This course has 16 units, from variables and expressions all the way to quadratics and statistics. Each unit teaches you, lets you practice as much as you want, quizzes you, and then asks you to use the math on something real. This page is a five-minute tour so you don't miss anything — and the 16 units unlock at the end of it. Unit 0 and every resource are open to you right now.
Your first ten minutes
Do these four things in order and you'll be set up properly.
Algebra 1 quietly assumes you still remember negative numbers, fractions, percents, order of operations, the vocabulary of expressions, basic equation solving, ratios, and the coordinate plane. Unit 0 · Readiness review refreshes all eight, each with a Khan Academy link and its own practice drill.
Nobody has to finish it, and it is not part of your course progress. Unlike the other units its topics are unlocked from the start and can be done in any order — so skip it entirely if the basics feel fine, dip into one topic the week it trips you up, or work through the lot before Unit 1. It stays available at any point.

How a unit works
Every one of the 16 units is laid out exactly the same way, so once you learn this menu you know all of them. Here's the sidebar you'll see on the left of every unit.

Inside a lesson
A lesson always runs in the same order: it teaches you the idea, shows a worked example, then gives you problems to try. Three features are easy to walk past — don't.
1 · Hover any underlined word
Math words are defined right where you meet them. Anything with a dotted underline has a definition attached — hover it on a computer, tap it on a phone.
The coefficient tells you how fast the value changes.
2 · Hints come one step at a time
Stuck on a practice problem? Open the step-by-step help. It reveals one nudge at a time instead of dumping the answer, so you still get to do the thinking.
A best-fit line is y = 4x + 20. Predict y when x = 5.
3 · There's a video for every lesson
If reading isn't landing, each lesson has a matching Khan Academy video tucked behind one button. Watch it, then come back to the practice.
When you're done, press Mark lesson complete at the bottom. That ticks it off your progress ring and unlocks the next lesson.
Practice that never runs out
This is the feature students miss most often. At the bottom of every lesson there's a Practice drill that builds brand-new problems on demand. The numbers change every single time, so you can practice the same skill twenty times and never repeat a question.
A line of best fit is y = 6x + 13. Predict y when x = 4.
The night before a quiz, or any time a skill feels shaky. Five in a row is a good sign you've actually got it. For mixed practice across many units at once, use Spiral Review instead.
Check for Understanding
Each unit ends with one quiz covering everything in it. You'll see the same question styles the state test uses: multiple choice, select-all-that-apply, type-in-a-number, and multi-part questions.
Afterwards you don't just get a score out of ten — you get a breakdown of which standards you've mastered, plus how you did by SBAC claim and by depth-of-knowledge level. That's how you know exactly what to go back and review.
Take the quiz as many times as you want — only your best score is kept. A low first attempt costs you nothing, so use it to find your gaps early rather than avoiding it.
Apply Your Learning
Every unit finishes with two projects that put the maths into a real situation. Switch between them with the tabs at the top — both count, and each is ticked off separately.
Pick a story you actually care about
Each project offers four themes. The maths is identical whichever you choose — but the questions, the numbers, and the wording all change to match. Pick the one that interests you.
Right answers explain themselves
When you get a step right, a short note appears telling you what your answer means in the story — not just that it was correct.
You ride 5 miles. Find the fare: f(5) = 2(5) + 3.
$13 for a 5-mile ride. The input 5 means "after 5 miles" and the output 13 is what you owe — $10 of driving plus the $3 you owed the moment you got in.
Each project ends with Explain your thinking. Write a sentence or two in your own words, then open the sample answer to compare. Explaining it is what makes it stick — and it's exactly what the state test's written questions ask for.

Beyond the per-unit quizzes, the hub holds seven larger assessments beyond the diagnostic. Take the checkpoints as you reach them rather than saving them all for the end.

Each unit's Overview has export buttons. The report gathers your lessons, every quiz question with your answer, your mastery by standard, and both Apply projects with your written explanations. Put your name in first so it's labeled.
